COMPLIANCE & CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Leatherex Footwear Industries Ltd. has been upgraded to facilitate compliance. The company has been undertaken a program with a German consulting firm named CSI to implement a project for
compliance & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as per Compliance Manuel of European Union, under REACH regulation.
As a member of our society we strive to facilitate Bangladesh’s social and economic development by providing skilled employment opportunities and producing high quality goods
for export. An important goal of this project is the development and establishment of an improved management system. The improvement process will consider the areas social
compliance, environmental protection and production & quality management. Based on the principles of accountability, ethical business conduct and a modern understanding of CSR, the
new management system will include mechanisms and procedures that aim to ensure full legal compliance and a good work environment, decrease resource consumption, and increase
As per vision of Leatherex and under the activities of CSR, various programs are under implementation such as Child education and nutrition support (Children of the workers get
privilege in this program), shelter for homeless and disable women, free medical facilities for old people and so on. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company
achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives (“Triple-Bottom-Line-Approach”), while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and
stakeholders. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorships or philanthropy. At the end of
the day it is going to be an alternative model of social business. Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a
company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that.
